Odisha Declares Summer Vacation Amid Heatwave

Odisha Govt Declares Summer Vacation for Schools, Anganwadi Centres Amid Heat Wave
In light of the severe heat wave conditions prevailing across Odisha, the state government on Tuesday announced summer vacation for all schools and anganwadi centres starting Wednesday.
The decision applies to both government and privately managed educational institutions. Additionally, all colleges across the state—government and private—will also remain closed from Wednesday until further notice.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi took the decision after reviewing the current weather situation and assessing reports from various districts affected by soaring temperatures.
“The safety and well-being of students and staff are our top priorities. Keeping in mind the health risks posed by the intense heat wave, the government has decided to suspend classes and activities,” a senior official stated.
Odisha has been witnessing a sharp rise in daytime temperatures, with several districts recording temperatures above 40°C in recent days. Health and disaster management officials have also issued advisories urging people to stay indoors during peak afternoon hours.
The state government is closely monitoring the situation and will announce further measures as required.
