Two Arrested in Mayurbhanj Bank Robbery

Two Arrested for Armed Bank Robbery in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj
The Odisha Police have arrested two suspects involved in the armed robbery of a bank in Mayurbhanj district, officials confirmed on Tuesday. The arrests come two months after the daring daylight heist that shocked the region.
Speaking to the media, Mayurbhanj Superintendent of Police Varun Guntupalli said that the robbery took place on February 20 at around 10:15 AM when five armed individuals stormed into a bank branch in Bahalda. Covering their faces with helmets and masks, the accused held the bank staff and customers at gunpoint.
The robbers looted ₹20 lakh in cash after taking several people hostage. They reportedly confined the staff and customers in the bank’s strong room and locked the main entrance from the outside before fleeing the scene, SP Guntupalli added.
During the incident, the branch manager and some staff members were also assaulted, further heightening the panic and chaos inside the bank.
Following a detailed investigation involving surveillance footage, local intelligence, and technical analysis, police were able to track down and apprehend two of the accused. A manhunt is ongoing to nab the remaining culprits.
The SP assured that efforts are being intensified to recover the stolen money and bring all those involved to justice.
