800 Cyclone Relief Shelters Prepared in Odisha as Storm Approaches: Minister

The Odisha government has readied approximately 800 cyclone relief shelters to house evacuees as a depression over the Bay of Bengal intensifies and moves toward the eastern coast, with the potential to develop into a severe cyclonic storm. The state’s Revenue and Disaster Management Minister, Suresh Pujari, made the announcement on Tuesday, assuring that the administration is fully prepared for the evacuation process.
The minister stated that officials have already inspected around 250 of these shelters to ensure readiness. “Food, water, medicine, electricity, and other essential supplies have been arranged for the safety and well-being of those who will be evacuated from vulnerable areas,” Pujari said.
Odisha is no stranger to cyclones, and the state has consistently been recognized for its efficient disaster management. With proactive measures in place, the government aims to minimize damage and protect lives as the cyclone approaches.
Residents in coastal and low-lying areas have been advised to stay alert and cooperate with local authorities as the situation unfolds.
