315 Arrested in Ganjam District for Gambling; Cash and Vehicles Seized

In a significant crackdown on illegal gambling, police in Odisha’s Ganjam district have arrested 315 individuals over the past ten days. During the raids, authorities seized unaccounted cash amounting to Rs 12.98 lakh, along with 115 mobile phones, 56 motorcycles, and three cars, according to a senior police official.
The arrests were made in connection with 54 registered cases under the Orissa Prevention of Gambling Act. The operation is part of an ongoing effort by the Ganjam police to curb gambling activities in the region.
“Such drives will continue to ensure that illegal gambling is completely eradicated from the district,” said the senior officer.
Gambling, especially during the festive season, has been a rising concern, prompting stricter measures to address the issue. The police have assured residents that action will be taken against those involved in such unlawful activities.
