In a move to honor Odia icons and other eminent figures, the Odisha government has decided to install statues in various districts to highlight their contributions to the country’s freedom struggle and societal development. The initiative aims to inspire the youth by familiarizing them with the achievements of these personalities.

The decision was taken by the Department of Odia Language, Literature, and Culture during a meeting chaired by Minister Suryabanshi Suraj. According to an official release issued on Wednesday, several proposals from public representatives, prominent individuals, and district administrations were reviewed and discussed.

The statues are expected to be erected across multiple districts, showcasing the legacy of Odia culture and history.
