Youth Urged to Build Self-Reliant India

Lok Sabha Speaker Urges Youth to Lead India’s Rise as Global Power at LPU Event

Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla delivered an inspiring address to students at Lovely Professional University (LPU) today, urging India’s youth to become active stakeholders in building a strong, self-reliant, and globally respected nation. Speaking at the university’s Study Grant Awards ceremony under the theme “One India & One World”, the Speaker emphasized the pivotal role of young minds in shaping the future of India and the world.

“India’s vibrant youth are at the forefront of innovation, governance, and entrepreneurship,” Shri Birla said, calling upon students to engage in nation-building efforts through democracy, research, law-making, and technology. “The future of Bharat as a global leader lies in the hands of those who can blend tradition with modernity and face challenges with conviction.”

Thousands of students, including those from over 50 countries, gathered for the event that highlighted global unity and India’s cultural heritage. Applauding Indian students for embodying the spirit of innovation, diversity, and leadership, the Speaker emphasized their capacity to uplift the country’s international standing through creativity and a sense of service.

Shri Birla also stressed the importance of education that combines ancient Indian wisdom with modern innovation. “Our education must cultivate not just skilled professionals but socially conscious citizens, rooted in culture and driven by a sense of purpose,” he stated.

In his remarks, the Speaker praised LPU as a symbol of India’s educational growth and global outlook. Describing the university as a “microcosm of India’s unity in diversity,” he lauded LPU’s efforts to foster inclusivity, harmony, and academic excellence while promoting Indian values.

Referring to the ancient Indian philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam — “the world is one family” — Shri Birla said the youth must embrace their roles as global citizens with Indian hearts. “One India, One World is not just a theme, it is a vision of interconnectedness where national identity harmonizes with global responsibility.”

As India prepares to mark 100 years of independence in 2047, Shri Birla called on the youth to lead the country’s march towards becoming a just, inclusive, and developed nation. “Let us strive for an India that leads with wisdom and values, and contributes meaningfully to global well-being,” he said.

The event concluded with Shri Birla congratulating the graduating class and encouraging them to pursue excellence, stay disciplined, and remain deeply connected to their roots. The gathering was also attended by Shri Ashok Mittal, Member of Parliament, along with university officials and dignitaries.
