WIF India announces scholarship for women producers to attend Cannes Film Market’s impACT Lab

Women in Film India (WIF India) has announced a scholarship programme for emerging women producers from India to participate in the impACT Lab initiative at the Marché du Film, held alongside the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.

The scholarship, launched in collaboration with impACT Lab, aims to support and mentor women producers who are in the early stages of their filmmaking careers. It is open to India-based women producers who have produced at least two short films and are currently developing their first feature-length project.

Under the programme, two selected candidates will be given the opportunity to take part in a hybrid training format designed to strengthen their creative and professional skills. The initiative will begin with a series of online workshops scheduled for April and May, followed by in-person sessions at Cannes from May 13 to 18 during the film market.

The impACT Lab is known for nurturing producers who focus on socially relevant storytelling and innovative film projects. Through mentorship, networking opportunities, and industry exposure at the international film market, the selected participants will be able to connect with global producers, distributors, and film professionals.

According to the organisers, the scholarship aims to create greater representation for women producers from India in international film markets and provide them with a platform to develop impactful cinema projects.

WIF India said the initiative reflects its broader commitment to empowering women in the film industry by providing access to global platforms, training, and professional development opportunities.
