Vice-President Dhankhar Highlights India’s Technological Revolution and Vision for 2047
Motihari, Bihar: Vice-President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, addressed the 2nd Convocation of Mahatma Gandhi Central University in Motihari, Bihar, on December 7, 2024. Emphasizing India’s remarkable technological strides, he stated, “The world is amazed that in a country of 140 crore people, technology is reaching the farthest corners.” He highlighted how technology has transformed service delivery, making tasks like bill payments and passport applications seamless.
Speaking to the graduating students, the Vice-President declared that “A developed India by 2047 is not just a dream; it is our goal.” He underlined that achieving this vision requires sacrifices and collective efforts, with a need to significantly boost per capita income.
Reflecting on Bihar’s progress, Shri Dhankhar remarked, “This land is shining again.” He praised the state’s resurgence, mentioning Nalanda’s revival as a symbol of creation and development.
Citing an initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Vice-President encouraged the audience to plant trees in honor of their mothers. “Imagine the impact if 140 crore Indians embraced this practice. It would spark a massive environmental revolution,” he said.
Highlighting economic priorities, Shri Dhankhar urged reducing dependence on imports, explaining its adverse effects on foreign exchange, domestic jobs, and entrepreneurship. “By supporting domestic production, we can generate employment and boost local businesses,” he stressed.
The Vice-President also emphasized the pivotal role of alumni associations in shaping institutions, urging students to pledge contributions to their alma mater. “Even small amounts can create significant growth over time,” he said.
Encouraging students to embrace innovation, he called on them to think creatively and take advantage of government policies designed to support entrepreneurial ventures. “Boys and girls, think out of the box,” he concluded.
The event was attended by dignitaries including Bihar Governor Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Member of Parliament Shri Radha Mohan Singh, University Chancellor Dr. Mahesh Sharma, and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sanjay Srivastava.
