VP calls for economic nationalism & being vocal for local

Addressing a gathering at the Bharat Biotech facility in Hyderabad, Vice-President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar echoed the pivotal role of Research and Development (R&D) as the backbone of both the economy and the nation. He emphasized that R&D efforts transcend mere execution, embodying the highest form of contribution to humanity. “Our pursuit to serve humanity by science and research should not be hampered by temporary failures,” he added.
Highlighting India’s significant contribution to international vaccine efforts, including the donation of Covaxin through the vaccine Matri initiative, Dhankhar showcased India’s commitment to the principle of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.”
Furthermore, he underscored the need for corporate leaders to support institutions in promoting research and development to foster innovation, especially focusing on disruptive technologies.
Praising the heightened credibility of Padma Awards in recent times, Dhankhar noted that they are now authentically awarded to deserving individuals, free from patronage or reputation built by event management.
Addressing economic concerns, Dhankhar criticized unnecessary imports, emphasizing the importance of promoting local products and societal commitment to curb foreign exchange drain and foster entrepreneurial opportunities.
Highlighting the strength of alumni networks, Dhankhar urged alumni to form robust networks through think tanks to contribute to the nation’s growth and development.
Advocating for the channelization of disruptive technologies, Dhankhar cautioned against their unregulated proliferation while praising India’s dedication to biotechnology and pharmaceutical research, establishing its reputation as the pharmacy of the world.
Concluding on an optimistic note, Vice-President Dhankhar declared Bharat’s ascent as a superpower, citing the nation’s rapid progression and dynamic momentum, expressing confidence in Bharat’s future trajectory.
