C-DOT and IIT Jodhpur Collaborate for Automated Service Management in 5G Networks
C-DOT, the premier Telecom R&D Centre of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Government of India, and the Indian Institute of Technology, Jodhpur (IIT-J), have signed a groundbreaking agreement for “Automated Service Management in 5G and Beyond Networks Using AI.
Under the Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF) of the DoT, aimed at promoting technology design, development, and commercialization of telecommunication products, the agreement seeks to develop AI frameworks for automated network management in 5G and beyond.
The primary objective is to create AI-driven solutions for fault detection, diagnostic techniques, and network management, leveraging the vast data generated within 5G networks. A real-time 5G and Beyond testbed will be established to demonstrate these techniques alongside specific application use-cases like smart metering and remotely operated vehicles.
The agreement signing ceremony, attended by Dr. Pankaj Kumar Dalela, Director, C-DOT, and Dr. Sai Kiran, MPR, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Jodhpur, marks a significant step towards revolutionizing network management and enhancing Quality of Service (QoS) in 5G and 6G telecom networks.
Dr. Sai Kiran, MPR, Associate Professor, IIT Jodhpur, expressed enthusiasm about the R&D grant received from the DoT, highlighting its potential to drive advanced research initiatives in network management. He emphasized leveraging AI technologies to develop automated solutions ensuring low-latency and high-reliability performance, crucial for new application verticals in 5G and 6G networks.
Both C-DOT and IIT Jodhpur stressed that the successful completion of this project would pave the way for innovative use-cases in transportation systems and smart cities, contributing significantly to India’s future telecom standards and enhancing its role in global telecommunications.
