Vice President lauds service, spirituality at Sripuram

Vice President Highlights Compassion, Service at Sri Sakthi Amma’s Golden Jubilee in Vellore

Vice President of India Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan on Friday participated in the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Sri Sakthi Amma at Sripuram in Vellore, marking 50 years of her spiritual journey. He expressed happiness at being part of the occasion and lauded Sri Sakthi Amma’s lifelong commitment to spirituality blended with social service.

Addressing the gathering, the Vice President said that true spirituality does not lie merely in ritualistic worship but in love, compassion and service to fellow human beings. Quoting renowned poet Subramania Bharati, he remarked that “there is no greater penance than love,” adding that serving society is the highest form of spiritual discipline.

He noted that the sanctity and spiritual eminence of the Sripuram Golden Temple are reflected in the visits of eminent leaders, including former Presidents Dr A. P. J. Abdul Kalam and Shri Ram Nath Kovind, and more recently, President Smt. Droupadi Murmu, who visited the temple last month.

The Vice President praised the wide range of charitable initiatives undertaken under Sri Sakthi Amma’s guidance, including scholarships for higher education, drinking water projects in water-scarce regions, distribution of bicycles to students and the daily annadanam programme serving food to thousands. He described these efforts as noble services carried out in the true spirit of devotion and dharma.

Highlighting the environmental initiatives at Sripuram, Shri Radhakrishnan said that over 50,000 trees have been planted within the campus, while several lakh saplings have been planted on the nearby Kailasagiri hills. He termed this a monumental contribution to humanity and Mother Earth, and said protecting the environment is itself a form of divine service, aligning with the environmental vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

The Vice President described Sri Sakthi Amma as a great spiritual luminary of the present age, who exemplifies the principle that “Love is Divine” through her life and actions, inspiring righteousness and spiritual consciousness across society.

Earlier in the day, Shri Radhakrishnan performed darshan at the Sri Narayani Temple at Sripuram and prayed to Goddess Lakshmi for peace, prosperity and happiness for all.
