Dutchman Sjoerd Marijne Reappointed Chief Coach of Indian Women’s Hockey Team
Dutch coach Sjoerd Marijne has been reappointed as the chief coach of the Indian women’s hockey team, marking a return to the setup after his successful stint that saw India finish fourth at the Tokyo Olympics.
Marijne, 51, had previously guided the team from 2017 to 2021 and is set to lead the side once again as they aim to strengthen their global standing. Supporting him will be Matias Vila as the analytical coach. Vila, a former Argentine midfielder, made his international debut in 1997 and represented Argentina at the 2000 Sydney and 2004 Athens Olympics. With over two decades of coaching experience, Vila brings a wealth of tactical and analytical expertise to the team.
The duo’s appointment comes as India prepares for upcoming international tournaments, with hopes high for further historic performances on the global stage.
