Vedanta to Set Up Aluminium Park in Odisha’s Jharsuguda
Vedanta Ltd announced on Monday that it will establish a modern aluminium park in Jharsuguda, Odisha, near its existing aluminium smelter. The park, which will span 253 acres, is expected to attract over 100 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and generate around 2 lakh employment opportunities, the company stated in a press release.
This initiative is part of Vedanta’s broader investment plan to strengthen its presence in the aluminium sector. The company revealed it would invest a substantial Rs 1 lakh crore in the project, which will also include the establishment of an aluminium plant with a production capacity of 3 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) in Rayagada district.
The proposed aluminium park is expected to boost Odisha’s industrial growth and create a strong value chain for the aluminium sector. With a focus on innovation and sustainability, Vedanta aims to provide a platform for MSMEs to thrive while significantly contributing to the state’s economy.
The announcement comes as part of Vedanta’s commitment to contribute to the development of the region, creating both direct and indirect employment opportunities for local communities and driving economic progress in the state.
