UK PM Starmer Advocates India-UK Films

UK PM Starmer Visits YRF Studios, Pushes Film Collaboration

United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer visited Yash Raj Films (YRF) Studios in Andheri, Mumbai, on Wednesday, advocating for stronger film collaborations between India and the UK. He announced that major Indian production houses, including YRF, will start shooting movies across various locations in the UK.

The UK PM’s visit, part of a two-day trip to India, was accompanied by a delegation from Britain’s film sector, including representatives from the British Film Institute, British Film Commission, Pinewood Studios, Elstree Studios, and Civic Studios.

Arriving from London earlier in the day, Starmer toured the YRF Studios under tight police security. He interacted with top executives and discussed opportunities for co-productions, knowledge exchange, and joint initiatives between the Indian and British film industries.

“This visit marks a new chapter in UK-India film collaboration, encouraging creative exchange and international production opportunities,” Starmer said during the tour.

Yash Raj Films, one of India’s leading production houses, welcomed the initiative, highlighting that collaborations with UK studios would not only boost international projects but also create opportunities for talent exchange and training in filmmaking techniques.

The visit underscores the growing importance of cultural and cinematic ties in strengthening bilateral relations between India and the UK.
