TPCODL Delivers Healthcare During Rath Yatra

TPCODL’s Mobile Health Dispensaries Serve 29,000 Pilgrims During Rath Yatra

Bhubaneswar, July 12 : TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, has reaffirmed its commitment to community well-being through its “Arogya” CSR initiative, providing critical healthcare services during the recent Rath Yatra celebrations in Puri.

As the grand chariots of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra rolled through the sacred streets, TPCODL’s Mobile Health Dispensaries (MHDs) operated tirelessly at three key locations—near the TPCODL Control Room at Sharadhabali, the Palishree Mela by the sea beach, and the Puri Railway Station. These mobile units extended medical services to over 29,000 pilgrims during the Rath Yatra, Bahuda Yatra, and Suna Besa festivities.

Each dispensary was staffed with a qualified team including a doctor, nurse, and pharmacist, offering essential services such as first aid, blood pressure monitoring, health consultations, and the distribution of free medicines and ORS packets. These timely interventions proved vital for pilgrims suffering from heat exhaustion and other minor ailments amid the massive turnout of devotees.

“Serving the devotees during Rath Yatra through our Mobile Health Dispensaries is our humble effort to ensure their well-being during this sacred journey,” said Arvind Singh, CEO of TPCODL. “By providing timely medical care and support on the ground, we remain committed to standing by the community when they need us the most.”

Beyond the festival, TPCODL’s MHDs continue to play a pivotal role in delivering healthcare across rural Odisha. Over the past year, the mobile units have reached more than 2 lakh individuals across 2,700 villages in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, and Paradeep electrical circles—many of which lack regular access to healthcare.

The MHDs have also demonstrated their importance during emergencies. In the aftermath of Cyclone Dana, TPCODL’s units were among the first to reach remote and underserved areas, delivering crucial aid and medical attention. In isolated regions like Bagapatia in Kendrapada and Kankadahada in Dhenkanal, these units follow fixed schedules, often coinciding with local events to maximize their impact.

TPCODL’s efforts during Rath Yatra and throughout the year reflect its unwavering dedication to improving community health and delivering support where it is needed most.
