Tough Draw for Sumit Nagal; Bopanna-Balaji to Face French Duo

PARIS: India’s top singles player Sumit Nagal faces a challenging start to his Paris Olympics campaign, drawing French player Corentin Moutet in the first round. Nagal, who defeated Moutet in April, will look to repeat that performance to advance.

Ranked 80th in the world, Nagal has a 2-2 head-to-head record against Moutet, who is positioned 12 spots higher in the ATP rankings. If Nagal progresses past Moutet, he may encounter Australian world number six Alex di Minaur in the second round, a potential clash that promises to be tough.

In doubles action, India’s Rohan Bopanna and Balaji will begin their Olympic journey against a French duo, setting the stage for a competitive start to their campaign as well.
