Tata Steel Completes ₹27,000 Crore Expansion at Kalinganagar, India Capacity Crosses 26 MT

Tata Steel on Thursday announced the successful completion of the Phase II expansion project at its Kalinganagar facility in Odisha, boosting the plant’s capacity from 3 million tonnes (MT) to 8 MT. This milestone raises the company’s total steel production capacity in India to 26.1 MT.

The expansion, completed at an investment of ₹27,000 crore, is part of Tata Steel’s long-term strategy to enhance domestic production and meet the growing demand for steel in infrastructure and manufacturing.

The upgraded Tata Steel Kalinganagar (TSK) plant was officially inaugurated by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at a ceremony held on Thursday.

“Tata Steel remains committed to nation-building through value creation, industrial growth, and employment generation,” the company said in a statement, adding that the Kalinganagar project also supports its vision of sustainability and technological advancement.

With this expansion, Tata Steel further strengthens its position as one of India’s leading steel producers, reinforcing its role in supporting the country’s industrial and economic growth.
