Tamil Nadu to Complete 223 Mobile Towers in Rural Areas by March 2025

Tamil Nadu is making significant strides in improving rural connectivity by establishing 223 mobile towers under the Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN) scheme. As of now, 197 towers have been completed, with the remaining 26 set to be operational by March 2025, according to M Chandrasekar, Deputy Director General (DDG) of the Department of Telecom (DoT) in Tamil Nadu.

The initiative aims to provide seamless mobile connectivity in remote areas, bridging the digital divide and enabling better access to communication and internet services.

The update was shared following the launch of three new telecom schemes by Union Minister for Communications, Jyotiraditya M Scindia, in Delhi. These initiatives underline the government’s commitment to enhancing digital infrastructure across the country, particularly in underserved regions.

The DBN scheme, a flagship program under the broader Digital India initiative, is expected to empower rural communities, support economic activities, and provide opportunities for education and e-governance through improved connectivity.
