Odisha CM Congratulates Sudarsan Pattnaik for Winning British Sand Master Award
Bhubaneswar, April 6:Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday extended heartfelt congratulations to internationally acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik for being honoured with the prestigious Fred Darrington British Sand Master Award at the Sandworld Sand Sculpture Festival held in Weymouth, United Kingdom.
Taking to social media platform X, CM Majhi wrote, “Heartiest congratulations to Padma Shri awardee and eminent sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik on being honoured with the first British Sand Master Award, ‘The Fred Darrington’.”

Pattnaik, who hails from Puri, represented India at the International Sand Art Festival in Weymouth, where he sculpted a 10-feet-tall giant statue of Lord Ganesha. His artwork conveyed a strong message of peace and was widely appreciated by visitors and fellow artists alike.
Acknowledging his contribution, CM Majhi added, “His contribution has further enhanced the cultural heritage of our country and state on the global stage.”
Sudarsan Pattnaik is renowned for using his sand sculptures to highlight social and global issues. With this latest honour, he continues to make Odisha and India proud on international platforms.
