Sudarsan Pattnaik Honors Ratan Tata in Sand

Sudarsan Pattnaik’s Sand Art Pays Tribute to Ratan Tata on Death Anniversary
Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik paid a heartfelt tribute to legendary industrialist Ratan Tata on his first death anniversary by creating a six-foot sand sculpture on Puri Beach in Odisha.
Crafted using over eight tons of sand, the artwork featured a detailed portrait of Ratan Tata surrounded by emblems representing several iconic Tata Group companies. The tribute drew large crowds of visitors and admirers who gathered to honor the visionary leader’s enduring legacy.
Speaking about his creation, Pattnaik said the sand sculpture was a humble gesture to remember Tata’s immense contributions to industry, philanthropy, and nation-building. “Every year on October 9, we will continue to celebrate his life, values, and achievements,” the artist said.
Ratan Tata, former chairman of Tata Sons and Tata Group, was known for his visionary leadership and humility. Under his stewardship, the conglomerate expanded globally, acquiring brands like Jaguar Land Rover, and strengthening India’s industrial footprint on the world stage.
Beyond business, Tata was widely respected for his philanthropy, with major contributions to education, healthcare, and rural development. His passing on October 9, 2024, was mourned across India and abroad.
Pattnaik’s tribute stands as a symbol of enduring admiration for Ratan Tata — not just as an industrial titan, but as a compassionate leader whose ideals continue to inspire generations.
