STL and Connexin Partner to Bring Gigabit Connectivity to Nottinghamshire
STL (Sterlite Technologies Ltd), a leading optical and digital solutions company, has teamed up with UK-based Connexin to deliver high-speed broadband connectivity across Nottinghamshire. This collaboration is part of Connexin’s government award to connect approximately 34,300 hard-to-reach premises in rural areas of Nottinghamshire and West Lincolnshire with gigabit broadband under Project Gigabit.
STL will leverage its Smart Fibre Deployment Services to deploy full fibre-to-the-premise (FTTP) infrastructure, providing speeds of up to 1Gbps to around 12,000 rural premises. This initiative aims to significantly upgrade digital infrastructure in areas like Kirkby in Ashfield, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Annesley, and Newark on Trent.
In addition to network deployment, STL has committed to a community values program, creating job opportunities for diverse candidates and supporting local initiatives in Nottinghamshire. This partnership underscores STL’s commitment to advancing digital inclusion and improving quality of life through enhanced connectivity.
Praveen Cherian, CEO of Global Services Business at STL, emphasized the transformative impact of this partnership on community development and equitable access to technology. Ashley Achmed, Vice President of Infrastructure at Connexin, highlighted the broader implications of the collaboration for rural economic growth and digital empowerment.
STL’s longstanding presence in the UK and expertise in optical network solutions position it as a key partner in delivering reliable and scalable broadband infrastructure across remote areas, contributing to the UK government’s goal of achieving widespread gigabit connectivity.
