STF Busts Fake Currency Racket in Odisha, Two Arrested

Bhubaneswar, Apr 10: In a major crackdown on counterfeit currency, the Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Police, in coordination with Bolangir District Police, has busted an illegal fake currency racket and arrested two persons involved in the crime.

The accused, identified as Mohammad Sabir and Netra Raut, were apprehended during a joint raid on Wednesday night. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the STF team conducted the operation in the Titilagarh area of Bolangir district.

During the raid, Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) worth Rs. 49,000 were recovered from the duo, along with other incriminating materials used in the production and circulation of counterfeit notes.

A case has been registered at the Titilagarh Police Station under Sections 178, 179, 180, and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Legal proceedings have been initiated and further investigation is underway to trace the source and possible network behind the racket.

The STF continues its efforts to crack down on illegal activities and ensure public safety across the state.
