Odisha to Launch Cyber Crime Command Centre

Odisha to Establish Cyber Crime Command Centre, Strengthen Law Enforcement: CM Majhi

Bhubaneswar, Apr 10 (UNI): In a significant move to modernize law enforcement, the Odisha government has announced plans to set up a Cyber Crime Command Centre to bolster its cyber crime infrastructure, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi revealed on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters after returning from New Delhi, Majhi said the state is committed to enhancing internal security and adopting new technologies to counter evolving threats. The Command Centre will coordinate cyber policing efforts across the state, complemented by the establishment of 20 new cyber police stations and forensic vehicles in every subdivision.

To further strengthen policing at the grassroots level, Majhi announced the creation of a “Crime Scene Officer” post in every police station.

The Chief Minister said he had a detailed and “very positive” discussion with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on various initiatives, including new criminal laws, anti-Naxal strategies, and the recruitment of over 12,000 police personnel.

Majhi emphasized Odisha’s progress in containing Maoist activities and revealed that micro-level action plans have been developed in around 10 Naxal-affected districts. The government will deploy Heron drones, UAVs, and interceptors, along with forming three special strike battalions of ex-servicemen.

In a bid to ease traffic congestion, 2,000 new traffic police posts will also be created.

To ensure security in rapidly growing industrial zones, the Odisha government has proposed forming the Odisha Industrial Security Force (OISF) and is actively engaging with the central government for its approval.

“Odisha has great industrial potential, and a robust law and order system is essential for its economic growth,” Majhi said, adding that the Union Home Minister has assured full support to the state’s initiatives.
