Railways to Modernize Six Stations in Central Odisha Under Amrit Bharat Scheme
Bhubaneswar, Apr 10 :In a significant stride towards modernizing railway infrastructure, Indian Railways has launched a comprehensive redevelopment project for six major stations in Central Odisha under the ambitious Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
The stations identified for upgradation include Angul, Talcher, Talcher Road, Meramandali, Dhenkanal, and Rairakhol. The initiative aims to transform these stations into world-class transit hubs by enhancing passenger experience, boosting regional connectivity, and stimulating local economic growth.
According to East Coast Railway (ECoR) sources, the redevelopment plan includes the construction of new station buildings with modern architectural design, integrated transport infrastructure, and sustainable features. The revamped stations will feature wider foot over bridges (12 meters), elevators, upgraded platforms, and enhanced surface finishes to ensure comfort and safety.
To further improve accessibility and convenience, the stations will be equipped with ample parking areas, pick-up/drop-off lanes, Wi-Fi connectivity, LED-based coach guidance systems, train information displays, and improved lounge and waiting areas.
The station façades will also undergo redesign to create a visually appealing and functional exterior, aligning with Indian Railways’ vision of a modern, user-centric, and sustainable transport network.
Officials stated that the project is expected to generate local employment opportunities and promote tourism across the Central Odisha region. The modernization drive reaffirms Indian Railways’ commitment to transforming the country’s transport infrastructure and delivering enhanced services to passengers.
