Special Khadi Exhibition Inaugurated at I.N.A. Delhi Haat Under ‘Khadi Mahotsav’

The special Khadi exhibition at I.N.A. Delhi Haat was inaugurated on Friday by Union Minister of MSME Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi, alongside Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) Chairman Shri Manoj Kumar. This event, part of the nationwide ‘Khadi Mahotsav,’ aims to promote Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Vocal for Local’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives during the festive season.

Running until October 31, the exhibition features 157 stalls from 55 Khadi institutions and 102 village industry units representing various states, including Delhi, Rajasthan, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha, and West Bengal. Products on display range from sarees and readymade garments to handicrafts, herbal goods, and Ayurvedic products, offering visitors a variety of handmade, sustainable options.

In his address, Union Minister Manjhi urged the people of Delhi to visit the exhibition and support local artisans by purchasing Khadi products. He highlighted the importance of such events in empowering rural artisans and preserving India’s rich tradition of indigenous craftsmanship. “This exhibition strengthens the economic conditions of rural artisans, giving them a platform to showcase their unique talents,” Manjhi said.

KVIC Chairman Shri Manoj Kumar emphasized that Khadi and village industries recorded a business turnover of ₹1.55 lakh crore in the last financial year, benefiting artisans across India. He also noted the increased wages for spinners and weavers announced on Gandhi Jayanti, underscoring the government’s ongoing efforts to support traditional craftsmen.

The exhibition also features live demonstrations of traditional arts and cultural programs, offering a rich, immersive experience for visitors. This initiative not only promotes Khadi products but also contributes to the preservation of India’s cultural heritage while supporting the livelihoods of rural artisans.
