Southwest Monsoon Withdraws from Major Parts of Odisha

The southwest monsoon has officially withdrawn from 20 out of the 30 districts of Odisha, according to the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre. In a statement released on Sunday, the Centre confirmed that the monsoon has retreated from the northern and coastal regions, and it is expected to withdraw completely from the remaining districts within the next two days.

Weather scientist Umashankar Das, speaking on the monsoon’s progression, mentioned, “The southwest monsoon has already withdrawn from districts like Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Khurda, Jajpur, Nayagarh, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Sonepur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, and Sundargarh.”

This marks the seasonal transition from the monsoon to the post-monsoon period, with temperatures likely to dip and drier conditions prevailing across the state. The withdrawal process is expected to be complete across Odisha soon, as the weather patterns shift with the change in seasons.
