Sitharaman, Norway’s Stoltenberg explore renewable energy cooperation in Oslo
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday held bilateral talks with Norway’s Finance Minister Jens Stoltenberg, focusing on expanding cooperation in renewable energy and green technologies.
During their meeting in Oslo, the two leaders discussed potential collaboration in key areas such as solar power, rare earth processing, and carbon capture and storage (CCS), according to a post by the finance ministry on X.
Stoltenberg highlighted India’s strong economic growth trajectory, noting that it presents significant opportunities for investment and partnership. He expressed interest in strengthening economic ties, particularly in sectors aligned with sustainability and clean energy transition.
The discussions come amid growing global emphasis on renewable energy adoption and critical mineral supply chains. Cooperation in rare earth processing is seen as strategically important, given its role in clean energy technologies, electric vehicles, and advanced manufacturing.
The engagement reflects efforts by both countries to deepen bilateral economic relations while advancing climate and sustainability goals.
