Singapore, India to Explore Green Digital Shipping Corridor Pact

Singapore and India are in discussions to sign a Letter of Intent (LoI) for establishing a Green Digital Shipping Corridor (GDSC), which aims to integrate the Indian maritime sector into the global sustainable shipping network.
The agreement is expected to be formalized during Indian Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal’s visit to Singapore next week. Sonowal, who serves as the Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, will lead a delegation at the upcoming Singapore Maritime Week (SMW), scheduled from March 24 to 28.
The GDSC initiative is expected to enhance collaboration between the two nations in decarbonizing the maritime industry by leveraging digital solutions and green energy. The pact aligns with global efforts to promote eco-friendly shipping practices and reduce carbon emissions in maritime trade.
As both nations strengthen their maritime ties, the proposed agreement is seen as a significant step toward sustainable shipping and fostering international cooperation in the sector.
