Similipal National Park Closed for Tourists Due to Bad Weather

The Similipal National Park in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district has been temporarily closed for tourists due to heavy rainfall and forecasts of thunderstorms. The park will remain shut for two days starting Saturday, officials said.

Prakash Chand Gogineni, Regional Chief Conservator of Similipal and Field Director of the Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR), stated that the situation would be assessed, and entry might be permitted once weather conditions improve.

Authorities have urged tourists planning to visit the park to stay updated by checking with the concerned officials before making travel arrangements. The decision has been taken to ensure the safety of visitors amid adverse weather conditions.

Similipal National Park, known for its rich biodiversity and tiger reserve, attracts nature enthusiasts and wildlife lovers throughout the year. However, unpredictable weather conditions often lead to temporary closures to prevent risks to tourists and park personnel.

Officials will continue to monitor the situation, and further updates will be provided based on weather developments.
