Filmmaker Shiladitya Bora Makes Odia Cinema Debut with ‘Bindusagar’

Acclaimed film producer and director Shiladitya Bora is set to make his debut in Odia cinema with a new family drama titled Bindusagar, the filmmaker announced on Thursday.

The film stars popular Odia actors Prakruti Mishra and Dipanwit Dashmohapatra in lead roles and is helmed by director Abhishek Swain, who gained critical acclaim for his 2024 film Jajabara 2.0.

Bora, known for national award-winning and internationally recognized films like Picasso and Yours Truly, expressed his enthusiasm about venturing into regional cinema. “With Bindusagar, we aim to take Odia cinema to a global stage. It’s a deeply rooted story, but I believe its themes will resonate universally,” he said.

The project is being seen as a major boost for Odia cinema, which is witnessing renewed interest from both audiences and filmmakers alike. The film’s title, Bindusagar, is inspired by the historic Bindusagar Lake in Bhubaneswar, suggesting a cultural and emotional connection to Odisha’s heritage.
