Sand Art at Puri Beach Celebrates India’s Under-19 Cricket Triumph

Bhubaneswar, Feb 7 : Renowned sand artist and Padma Shri awardee Sudarsan Pattnaik paid a unique tribute to India’s victorious Under-19 cricket team by creating a striking sand sculpture at the iconic Puri beach, celebrating the nation’s pride and youthful sporting excellence.

The artwork was dedicated to 14-year-old batting prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi, whose fearless and extraordinary performance has captured the imagination of cricket fans across the country. The sand sculpture carried the message “Congrats Vaibhav – Youngest Legend!”, symbolising admiration for the young cricketer’s remarkable achievement.

Spanning nearly 15 feet in length, the sculpture commemorates Suryavanshi’s phenomenal innings of 175 runs off just 80 balls, marked by confidence, determination and aggressive stroke play. The artwork reflected the joy and pride felt nationwide while highlighting the bright future of Indian cricket.

Students from Sudarsan Pattnaik’s Sand Art Institute joined the artist in crafting the sculpture, transforming the tribute into a collective celebration of talent, perseverance and sporting spirit.

Speaking on the occasion, Pattnaik said such an exceptional performance at a very young age showcases the immense potential of Indian cricket and serves as a powerful inspiration for aspiring cricketers. He emphasised that hard work, passion and determination are the cornerstones of success.

Padma Shri awardee Sudarsan Pattnaik has represented India in over 65 international sand sculpture championships and festivals across the globe, earning numerous accolades and bringing international recognition to Indian sand art.
