Rahul Gandhi Urges PM Modi for Central Aid to Flood-Hit Northern States
New Delhi, Sept 3 : Amid severe flooding in northern India, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide immediate central assistance to affected states.
In a video message, Gandhi highlighted the massive devastation in Punjab and expressed concern over the worsening situations in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. “Modi Ji, the floods in Punjab have caused massive devastation. The situation is also extremely concerning in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand,” he said.
He stressed the urgent need for the central government’s attention and intervention, noting that thousands of families are struggling to protect their homes and livelihoods. Gandhi also called for a special relief package, with a particular focus on farmers who have suffered significant losses.
Additionally, he urged the government to expedite relief and rescue operations to ensure timely assistance reaches those in need.
