PM Modi Made Yoga Global Movement

Yoga Now a Global Movement Thanks to PM Modi’s Vision, Says Ayush Minister Jadhav
Union Ayush Minister Prataprao Jadhav on Friday credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for transforming yoga from a personal wellness practice into a global mass movement over the past decade. His remarks come ahead of the 10th International Day of Yoga (IDY), to be observed worldwide on June 21.
In an interview with PTI, Jadhav said yoga is now enthusiastically practised in more than 170 countries, thanks to PM Modi’s relentless efforts in promoting its benefits on global platforms.
“The widespread global adoption of yoga can be attributed to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who not only proposed the idea of International Day of Yoga at the United Nations General Assembly in 2014 but also personally reached out to world leaders to garner unanimous support,” Jadhav stated.
He also emphasized that yoga has become a unifying global force, transcending borders, religions, and cultures. The Ayush Ministry has planned several events across India and abroad to mark IDY 2025, with a focus on youth engagement and community participation.
The minister said this year’s theme will highlight yoga’s role in mental well-being, sustainable lifestyle, and preventive health.
