AIIMS Bhubaneswar to Boost Healthcare Access in Rairangpur Region
Bhubaneswar, April 16: In a major push to strengthen healthcare services in northern Odisha, the state government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AIIMS Bhubaneswar to extend advanced medical facilities to Rairangpur and nearby areas.
Announcing the initiative, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling said that residents of Rairangpur and surrounding parts of Mayurbhanj district will soon benefit from improved access to specialized healthcare services.
The MoU was formalized at Lok Seva Bhavan in the presence of senior officials. It was signed by AIIMS Bhubaneswar Director Prof. Ashutosh Biswas and Director of Health Services, Odisha, Dr. Pradeep Guru.
As part of the agreement, AIIMS Bhubaneswar will provide technical support for the construction of a 100-bed hospital at the Rairangpur Sub-Divisional Hospital. The initiative is expected to benefit not only Rairangpur but also residents from Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and adjoining districts.
The minister highlighted that specialist outpatient services will be offered based on local healthcare needs. Regular outreach programmes, including monthly or bi-monthly health camps, dental and eye care services, and infectious disease treatment camps, will also be conducted.
Additionally, telemedicine services will be introduced to ensure access to expert consultations, while critical patients will be referred to AIIMS Bhubaneswar during emergencies.
Senior officials, including Commissioner-cum-Secretary S. Aswathy, were present during the discussions. The initiative marks a significant step toward bridging healthcare gaps in remote regions of the state.
