PM Modi Hails Mohan Bhagwat’s Leadership, Calls Tenure Transformative for RSS
Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Mohan Bhagwat for his intellectual depth, empathetic leadership, and dedication to societal transformation on the occasion of his 75th birthday, describing his tenure as the head of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) since 2009 as the most transformative period in the organisation’s 100-year history.
In a tribute published in multiple newspapers on Thursday, Modi highlighted Bhagwat as a living example of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, who has devoted his life to strengthening societal harmony, fraternity, and national unity. He lauded Bhagwat’s ability to combine continuity with adaptability, steering the RSS through complex challenges while keeping its core ideology intact.
Modi noted Bhagwat’s deep connection with youth and his active engagement in public discourse, which has helped integrate younger generations into the Sangh Parivar. He also appreciated Bhagwat’s support for government initiatives such as Swachh Bharat Mission and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, as well as his focus on the “Panch Parivartan”—social harmony, family values, environmental awareness, national selfhood, and civic duties.
Recalling his own association with Bhagwat and his family, Modi highlighted the formative influence of Bhagwat’s father, Madhukarrao Bhagwat, on his nation-building vision. He also noted Bhagwat’s early work during the Emergency, extensive contributions in rural and backward areas, and transformative changes in RSS training and activities under his leadership.
The Prime Minister praised Bhagwat’s versatility, passion for music, and love for reading, underscoring his holistic approach to leadership. Modi concluded by emphasizing Bhagwat’s commitment to Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, India’s diversity, and inclusive national development, describing his leadership as inspirational for volunteers and citizens alike.
