Majhi Reviews Fertilizer Supply, Assures Availability

Odisha CM Reviews Fertilizer Supply, Ensures Farmers Won’t Face Shortage
Bhubaneswar, Sep 11 : Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday reviewed the state’s fertilizer supply position and assured that there will be no shortage during the current Kharif season.
Chairing a high-level meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan, Majhi directed district collectors to closely monitor distribution through Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) and Large Area Multipurpose Cooperative Societies (LAMPCS). He instructed that seized stock at checking points should be diverted to the nearest PACS or LAMPCS for farmer use, rather than withheld.
The CM warned of strict action against black-marketing, diversion, or sale of spurious fertilizers. “Against the requirement of 9.55 lakh MT for Kharif 2025, the Centre has already allocated the full quantity. Of the 11.66 lakh MT available, 9.85 lakh MT has already been distributed to farmers,” Majhi said.
He asked the Agriculture Department to ensure timely supply of different grades of fertilizers based on district-level demand and directed MARKFED to speed up the distribution process. Enforcement agencies have also been tasked with intensifying inspections to prevent illegal practices.
Majhi emphasized crop diversification, urging districts to encourage oilseeds and pulses cultivation under the Samrudh Krushak Yojana. He also assured support for farmers affected by recent floods so that “no cultivator faces hardship in disaster-hit areas.”
The CM held a virtual interaction with all district collectors and sought real-time updates on fertilizer availability. Deputy CM K V Singhdeo, Cooperation Minister Pradip Bal Samant, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Development Commissioner Anu Garg, and senior officials from the Agriculture Department attended the meeting.
