PM Launches National ‘PM Vishwakarma’ Programme in Wardha, Maharashtra

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the national ‘PM Vishwakarma’ programme during a ceremony in Wardha, emphasizing the revival and respect for traditional skills in India. Celebrating the first anniversary of the initiative, he highlighted its significance on the historic date when Mahatma Gandhi launched his campaign against untouchability in 1932.

Addressing the gathering, PM Modi acknowledged the vital role of skilled artisans in India’s heritage and the need to empower them through modern technology and training. He noted that over 2 million individuals across 700 districts have benefited from the program, which provides skills training and financial support, including interest-free loans of up to ₹3 lakh.

The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for the PM Mitra Park in Amravati, aiming to elevate India’s textile industry on the global stage. He asserted that the park would create over 100,000 job opportunities and enhance the livelihoods of farmers by adding value to their produce.
