Ram Navami celebrations across Odisha concluded peacefully on Sunday, marked by vibrant processions and an encouraging display of communal harmony.
Barring a single stray incident in Soro town of Balasore district, the festival went off without any major untoward occurrences. According to police sources, a man sustained injuries to his head and hands after being stabbed by a group of individuals. He was promptly admitted to a hospital in Soro and is currently undergoing treatment. Authorities are investigating the matter, and the situation remains under control.
Despite the isolated incident, the overall atmosphere during the festival remained calm and joyful. In a heartwarming gesture, members of the Muslim community in Balasore’s district headquarters town welcomed a Ram Navami procession by showering it with flower petals, symbolizing peace and unity.
Police and local administration had made elaborate security arrangements across the state to ensure smooth conduct of the celebrations. Major towns and cities witnessed grand processions, devotional music, and cultural programs, with thousands participating enthusiastically.
Officials praised the cooperation of all communities in maintaining harmony during the festival. “The peaceful celebration of Ram Navami is a testament to the spirit of brotherhood among the people of Odisha,” said a senior police officer.
The incident in Soro remains under investigation, but authorities assured that it did not affect the larger festive spirit witnessed across the state.
