Half of India’s A320 Fleet Updated

Software Upgrade Completed for Over Half of A320 Family Fleet in India: DGCA

More than half of the A320 family aircraft in India requiring a crucial software update have already undergone the modification, according to data from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). A total of 338 aircraft operated by Indian carriers need the upgrade to address a potential flight-control vulnerability.

The issue came to light after Airbus warned that intense solar radiation could corrupt data vital to the aircraft’s flight-control systems. The European manufacturer noted that implementing the fix could cause temporary operational disruptions.

Industry sources said that while no flights have been cancelled due to the update process, some services are experiencing delays of 60 to 90 minutes as aircraft are taken offline for the mandatory software patch.

Indian airlines are coordinating with Airbus and the DGCA to expedite the upgrades and minimise passenger inconvenience, officials said.
