Paradip Port Sets Fastest 100 MMT

Paradip Port Achieves Fastest-Ever 100 MMT Cargo Throughput in a Fiscal

Paradip Port Authority (PPA) in Odisha has created a historic milestone by recording the fastest-ever 100 million metric tonnes (MMT) cargo throughput in a single fiscal, achieving the feat on 27 November 2025. This marks the ninth consecutive year that the port has crossed the 100 MMT mark, touching 100.15 MMT, a 4.78% year-on-year growth.

The accomplishment came 12 days earlier than last fiscal, when the port crossed the 100 MMT mark on 9 December 2024. This year, PPA achieved the record in 241 days, compared to 253 days earlier, reflecting improved operational efficiency.

PPA’s performance has been driven by growth across multiple cargo categories—coastal thermal coal, container cargo, gypsum and flux, petroleum products (POL), and steel. Coal alone accounts for nearly 45% of the total cargo and recorded a 3.76% rise. Container cargo grew by 32%, gypsum and flux by 24%, steel cargo by 35%, and POL by 31%, positioning Paradip Port as a rising coastal shipping hub of the country.

PPA Chairman Shri P.L. Haranadh thanked Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, and acknowledged the contribution of port officers, employees, user industries, stevedores, agents, trade unions, and various government departments for their support in achieving the milestone.

With operations becoming faster and systems improving steadily, PPA is gearing up to target an all-time high throughput by the end of this fiscal.
