Odisha Launches New Schemes to Boost Silk, Rural Industries

The Odisha government announced plans to introduce two new schemes aimed at enhancing silk production and promoting the growth of rural industries in the state.

The Chief Minister Silk Development Scheme and the Chief Minister Weaving Industry Development Scheme were approved during the state Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday.

The Cabinet decisions were formally announced in the Assembly by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukesh Mahaling on Saturday. Along with these two initiatives, the Cabinet approved a total of six proposals to support industrial and economic development in Odisha.

These new schemes are expected to provide financial assistance, technological support, and skill development opportunities to silk producers and rural entrepreneurs, strengthening the local economy and creating employment opportunities in the sector.

By focusing on traditional industries like silk weaving, the state aims to preserve cultural heritage while boosting rural livelihoods and industrial growth.
