Odisha Aims to Become Green Energy Hub by 2036: CM Majhi
Odisha is positioning itself to become a “green energy hub” by 2036, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced on Saturday, highlighting the state’s focus on strengthening its energy infrastructure and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
Majhi made the statement during the inauguration of the three-day Global Energy Leaders’ Summit 2025 (GELS 2025) in Puri. He emphasized that investments in renewable energy and a robust energy supply chain are central to ensuring uninterrupted electricity, particularly in rural areas.
The Chief Minister described reliable power as a critical component for self-reliance and youth empowerment, underscoring Odisha’s commitment to sustainable development and clean energy adoption. The state government plans to leverage these initiatives to foster economic growth while contributing to India’s broader climate goals.
With a roadmap toward green energy, Odisha aims to position itself as a leader in renewable energy generation, distribution, and innovation, attracting investments and creating jobs in the sector.
