Odisha to Set Up Cyber-Command-Centre

Odisha to Establish Cyber Command Centre in Bhubaneswar: DGP

Bhubaneswar : In a strategic move to combat the rising threat of cybercrime, the Odisha government has decided to establish a state-of-the-art Cyber Command Centre in Bhubaneswar. The announcement was made by Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania during the inauguration of a workshop on ‘Cyber Crime Investigation and Cyber Intelligence’ held on Monday.

DGP Khurania stated that the proposed Cyber Command Centre will play a crucial role in monitoring, detecting, and responding swiftly to cyber threats. It will also provide immediate assistance to victims of cybercrime, a growing concern across the state.

Highlighting the alarming increase in digital crimes such as online investment frauds, financial scams, identity theft, digital arrests, and the exploitation of vulnerable groups including children and the elderly, the DGP emphasized the urgent need for robust cyber policing infrastructure.

He announced that the state government has approved the establishment of 20 new cyber crime and economic offences police stations across Odisha. These new units will significantly bolster the state’s capacity to prevent and investigate digital crimes.

To further strengthen the cyber crime response framework, DGP Khurania revealed that similar workshops would soon be organized at both range and district levels. These sessions will include participation from police personnel across all ranks—from constables to senior officers—with the goal of enhancing investigative skills and technological proficiency.

“In this era of invisible criminals operating in the digital space, it is imperative that our police force keeps pace with evolving threats,” Khurania said. “Continuous training and upskilling are key to protecting the public and delivering justice effectively.”

Encouraging a proactive and committed approach, the DGP called on officers to apply their training on the ground to better serve the people of Odisha and combat cyber threats with greater confidence and competence.

DGP (Crime Branch) Binaytosh Mishra, in his welcome address, outlined the workshop’s objectives and underscored its importance in fortifying Odisha’s fight against cybercrime.
