Odisha Gears Up to Lead in Petrochemical & Chemical Sectors: CM Majhi
Bhubaneswar, Apr 10: Odisha is set to emerge as a leading state in the petrochemical and chemical sectors, said Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, following a series of high-level meetings and MoUs signed during his recent visit to New Delhi.
Speaking to media at Biju Patnaik International Airport on Wednesday night, Majhi revealed that the Odisha government has signed landmark Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Limited, and Petronet LNG.
“The MoU with IOCL is a historic milestone in Odisha’s industrial journey. It opens up vast possibilities for downstream and ancillary industries in the petrochemical sector. Our goal to transform Odisha into a robust port-based economy is steadily progressing,” said the Chief Minister.
Highlighting the outcomes of his visit on April 7 and 8, Majhi informed that Odisha has signed 13 agreements and received 15 investment intents, totaling a projected investment of ₹1,03,900 crore. These are expected to create over 95,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.
The Chief Minister also met with representatives of HCL Technologies at their Noida campus and proposed the establishment of an HCL facility in Odisha. “Their response was very encouraging,” Majhi said.
He added that more than 25 top industrialists interacted with him during the visit, and further discussions are planned in the coming weeks. “These engagements indicate a bright future for partnerships and economic growth in Odisha,” he concluded.
The series of developments aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of realizing Odisha’s industrial potential, turning the state into an emerging hub for investment and innovation.
