Odisha to Install 21,300 Tube Wells

Odisha Govt to Install 21,300 New Tube Wells to Combat Summer Water Crisis

In a major step to address the water scarcity during the peak summer months, the Odisha government has announced the installation of 21,300 new tube wells across the state. The initiative was confirmed by Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik.

Speaking to the media, Minister Naik stated that the move is part of a broader strategy to ensure uninterrupted access to safe drinking water for all residents, particularly in areas prone to seasonal water shortages.

Currently, the state has around 5.2 lakh tube wells catering to rural and semi-urban populations. The additional tube wells will be strategically installed in regions that are identified as water-stressed during the summer.

“This proactive measure will help mitigate the effects of water scarcity and ensure that people, especially in vulnerable areas, have reliable access to drinking water,” said Naik.

The state government is also working on enhancing monitoring mechanisms and ensuring timely maintenance of water sources to avoid disruptions during the critical summer period.
