Odisha to Establish World-Class Science City in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Sept 2: The Odisha Government has unveiled plans to set up a world-class Science City in Bhubaneswar, envisioned as a dynamic hub for scientific learning, innovation, and research.

Spread over 100 acres, the proposed Science City will feature interactive exhibitions, immersive learning spaces, and state-of-the-art research facilities. It is aimed at promoting scientific studies in eastern India while inspiring interest in education, creativity, and research among the youth.

A high-level committee led by Science and Technology Minister Krishna Chandra Patra has been formed to study existing Science Cities across India and adopt global best practices to ensure that the Bhubaneswar facility meets international standards.

As part of this initiative, Minister Patra began a two-day visit to Bihar on Sunday. On the first day, he toured the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Science City in Patna and held extensive discussions with senior officials there. He also met Bihar’s Deputy Chief Ministers Vijay Kumar Sinha and Samrat Chaudhary to deliberate on issues of mutual interest.

Officials said the project is expected to transform Bhubaneswar into a regional center of scientific excellence and serve as a platform for collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and innovation.
