Odisha STF Arrests Drug Peddler, Seizes 263 Grams of Brown Sugar
Bhubaneswar, May 6 : In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Police arrested a suspected drug peddler on Tuesday and seized 263 grams of brown sugar (heroin) from his possession, along with other incriminating materials.
Acting on intelligence input, an STF team from Bhubaneswar conducted a raid early Tuesday morning on Labangiri-Panchagaon Road under the jurisdiction of the Airfield Police Station in the Bhubaneswar Urban Police District (UPD). The operation specifically targeted illegal possession and distribution of narcotic substances.
During the raid, the STF apprehended one individual identified as Jyotikrishna, a resident of Bomikhal village under the Laxmi Sagar Police Station limits. A subsequent search led to the recovery of 263 grams of brown sugar, a highly addictive narcotic substance.
The accused failed to provide any legal documentation authorizing possession of the seized drugs. He was arrested at the scene and is set to be produced before the District Judge-cum-Special Judge, Khordha. Authorities have registered a case under Section 21(c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
Further investigation is ongoing to trace the broader network involved in the trafficking and supply chain of the narcotics. STF officials indicated that more arrests could follow based on leads obtained during interrogation.
