Policeman Caught Taking ₹40,000 Bribe in Odisha’s Koraput District
A police officer was caught red-handed by Odisha Vigilance officials while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹40,000 from a complainant in Koraput district on Tuesday.
According to the Vigilance Directorate, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Narasingha Dora, posted at B Singhpur Police Station, was arrested along with a private individual identified as Sunadhara Amanatya. The duo allegedly demanded the bribe to extend undue favour to the complainant in connection with a domestic violence case.
Officials said Dora, who was investigating the matter, had threatened the complainant with strict action if the demanded amount was not paid. Acting on the complaint, vigilance officers laid a trap and caught the ASI red-handed while accepting the money.
Following the arrest, searches were conducted at Dora’s residence and office premises to trace any additional assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The Vigilance Directorate has registered a case and further investigation is underway.
