Odisha Pays Tribute to Tribal Leader Rando Majhi on 169th Martyrdom Day

The state of Odisha on Tuesday honored the memory of Rando Majhi, a valiant freedom fighter and tribal leader, on the 169th anniversary of his martyrdom.
Rando Majhi led a spirited resistance against British colonial rule from 1853 until his tragic death in 1855, when he was killed by the police for his defiance.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi paid homage to the tribal icon on social media, saying, “A humble tribute to the great freedom fighter, tribal leader Rando Majhi, on his Sacrifice Day. His dedication and sacrifice for the protection of motherland will always be remembered.”
Majhi’s unwavering fight for justice and his sacrifices continue to inspire generations in Odisha, particularly among tribal communities. Various organizations across the state held commemorative events to honor his legacy and contributions to India’s freedom struggle.
