Odisha Launches Emerging Technologies Training Camps for Students

Bhubaneswar : In a move to equip students with future-ready digital skills, the Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC) has launched Emerging Technologies Training Camps for secondary and higher secondary school students across the State. The initiative, spearheaded by the Electronics and Information Technology Department, aims to familiarize students with cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Robotics, and Cyber Security.

The first phase of the programme will be implemented in 100 government secondary and higher secondary schools, benefiting around 12,000 students. Plans are underway to expand the initiative to include all government schools, Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas, government colleges, and universities across Odisha in subsequent phases.

The programme was inaugurated by Electronics & IT Minister Mukesh Mahaling, in the presence of School & Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond. Speaking at the event, Minister Mahaling highlighted the growing relevance of emerging technologies in shaping the future workforce and stressed the importance of early exposure for academic excellence, innovation, and nation-building.

Minister Gond encouraged students to leverage these technologies for meaningful and rewarding careers, while Vishal Kumar Dev, Principal Secretary, Electronics & IT Department, urged them to deepen their understanding of AI, IoT, and Robotics to contribute to Odisha’s future economy. Dr. Pradeep Kumar Raut, CEO, OCAC, inspired students to become job creators rather than job seekers by harnessing emerging technologies.

The training camps, conceptualized and sponsored by OCAC and implemented by Odisha Knowledge Corporation Limited (OKCL), will offer hands-on exposure and live demonstrations in AI, IoT & Robotics, and Cyber Security Awareness.

The event also featured technology demonstrations by Dr. Manoranjan Puthal, Managing Director, OKCL, and his team. Smita Rout, State Project Director, Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan (OAVS), delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of dignitaries and stakeholders.

The initiative reflects Odisha’s commitment to digital literacy and skill development, preparing students to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world.
